*Prerequisite: Medical Assisting Certificate

  • Electrocardiogram Studies 20 hours

    Students will learn basic anatomy and physiology of the heart, emergencies related to cardiac testing including syncope, chest pain, abnormal vitals, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and basic life support, along with safety, compliance and coordinated patient care, EKG Acquisition, Analysis and Interpretation, Holter Monitor and Stress Testing and be thoroughly prepared to take the Certified EKG Technician Exam through the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Practical exercises include obtaining patient vitals, CPR training and performing a minimum of 10 live EKG’s .

Hybrid Learning

  • Designed for the most flexibility. With this option, you’ll attend four pre-recorded lecture videos per week and attend labs on Saturdays for 6 hours.

The employment outlook for EKG Technicians is expected to grow over the next several years. Altrain Assisting Academy’s EKG Technician Program prepares students seeking employment, a 3-hour course on Job Placement. Instructors discuss where and how to find employment, what to wear, and even perform mock interviews with students.

Once students graduate, Altrain Assisting Academy helps students with finding employment through direct placement leads.  Many Physician’s offices, Care Centers and others contact Altrain Assisting Academy seeking students who are ready to enter the workforce.

Employment Outlook

The employment of an EKG Technician is projected to grow 10%* from 2021 to 2031, faster than the average for all occupations. About 140,000 openings for EKG Technicians are projected each year, on average, over the decades.  Many of these openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who have changed careers or exited due to retirement.

Once you earn your EKG Technician certification, you’ll be qualified to work in any medical office including within specialty practices such as physician offices, chiropractic offices, hospitals, optometrists, and outpatient care centers.
